Fatal crash in Washington Metro area- No survivor’s

A tragic midair collision occurred near Washington, D.C., when an American Airlines regional jet carrying 64 people collided with a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter during the plane’s approach to Reagan National Airport. The crash resulted in both aircraft plunging into the Potomac River, with no survivors expected. As of now, 28 bodies have been recovered, and search efforts have shifted to recovery operations.

The American Airlines flight originated from Wichita, Kansas, while the Black Hawk helicopter was on a routine training mission with three soldiers onboard. The collision grounded all flights at Reagan National Airport, which reopened early Thursday morning.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is leading the investigation into the crash. Notably, several athletes, including world-champion figure skaters, were among the passengers on the plane.
