Update on DeepSeek Cyberattack?

No update

As of January 28, 2025, the cyberattack on DeepSeek has not been fully resolved. The company is still investigating the issue and has only partially restored services. While DeepSeek initially limited new user registrations completely, they have since relaxed this restriction somewhat, allowing sign-ups through Google and Apple ID options as well as email registration on their web page.

The perpetrators of the cyberattack have not been identified or publicly disclosed by DeepSeek. There is speculation about potential culprits, including:

Opportunistic cybercriminals seeking to exploit DeepSeek’s sudden popularity

Rival organizations attempting to disrupt a competitor

State-backed actors, given the geopolitical implications of DeepSeek’s rise

However, these are merely speculative possibilities, and no concrete evidence has been presented to support any specific attribution for the attack. DeepSeek has not provided details about the nature or origin of the attacks, leaving the identity of the perpetrators unknown at this time.

FAF review

Russia, China and North Korea are biggest cyber hackers.

America would never get into this? We doubt it unless CIA conducted an operation. We have never seen CIA do it.

So who bell the cat?

Keep you good company at home. Who is very upset at China’s success? South sea partners, Taiwan, South Korea ( they are messed up in political turmoil ) or even Chinese rival companies? As China is flooded with AI aspirants innovation to become popular given the dying retail industry.

Russian allies won’t do it. They are partners with Africa.

We need to review this carefully. Need more time.
