A tragic mass-casualty incident occurred on New Year’s Day in New Orleans when a driver intentionally plowed a truck into a crowd on Bourbon Street, killing at least 15 people and injuring over 30.

The suspect, identified as Shamsud Din Jabbar, allegedly fired at police before being fatally shot. Improvised explosive devices were found at the scene, and authorities are investigating potential accomplices.

The FBI is treating the attack as an act of terrorism, though local officials initially offered conflicting statements. The investigation is ongoing, with heightened security in the area.
