Dubai recently inaugurated Mohammed bin Rashid Library (MBRL), a pioneering facility that integrates artificial intelligence and robotics into its operations.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Library officially opened to the public on June 16, 2022, located in the Al Jaddaf area of Dubai. This expansive facility spans 54,000 square meters and is designed to accommodate up to 1,000 visitors simultaneously. The construction of the library required an investment of approximately 1 billion AED (272.3 million USD).

The MBRL stands as the first library in the Middle East to implement artificial intelligence and robotic technologies in its operations. Key technological features include:
- An automated storage and electronic book retrieval system that utilizes AI to manage robots responsible for locating and delivering books to patrons.

- Self-service kiosks for book check-out.

Collection and Facilities

The library boasts a collection of over 1.1 million print and digital books, organized across nine specialized libraries distributed over seven floors. The specialized libraries include:

- Media and Arts Library
- Business Library

In addition to the extensive book collection, the library features a 500-seat theater, exhibition spaces, and a permanent art gallery.

The library also incorporates several environmentally sustainable design elements, including:
- 10% of its energy sourced from rooftop solar panels.
- A design aimed at reducing water consumption by 50%.
- An external structure engineered for insulation to effectively regulate internal temperatures.

Public Access

Access to the library is complimentary; however, visitors are required to register online in advance. The library operates from Monday to Saturday, with modified hours on Fridays.
