Is Germany on path of repeating history
The State of Palestine unequivocally condemns the remarks made by Germany’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Annalena Baerbock, in the German Parliament, which serve to legitimize Israel’s well-documented crimes against the Palestinian people, justify acts of genocide, and support Israel’s colonial ambitions.
The State of Palestine expresses profound alarm regarding the dehumanizing rhetoric that reduces the Palestinian people to mere advisory opinions and orders. International humanitarian law categorically prohibits the occupying Power, Israel, from committing acts of genocide. Furthermore, international humanitarian law, along with fundamental morality and humanity, mandates that States, including Germany, uphold legal standards by refraining from supplying weaponry to Israel amidst its genocidal actions and actively working to terminate Israel’s illegal occupation.
The State of Palestine underscores that the realization of the Palestinian people's rights to self-determination and independence remains an enduring obligation of the international community. The inalienable rights of the Palestinian people are unequivocally enshrined in international law and are integral to the multilateral system established in the aftermath of the atrocities of World War II. The realization of these rights is essential to fulfilling the promise of that multilateral system, which asserts that "all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights."
Indeed, Israel’s 76 years of exceptionalism is a product of the so-called “rules-based order,” within which international crimes and severe violations of international law—including aggression, annexation, apartheid, illegal occupation, and genocide—are condoned, overlooked, and justified solely in the context of Palestine. This exceptionalism has impeded the advancement of international law and denied protection to millions, resulting in the killing of over 50,000 Palestinians & Lebanese within a single year, effectively leading to the extermination of an entire people.
Consequently, the State of Palestine calls upon global leaders and officials to act with responsibility and cautions against sacrificing the law for the sake of political expediency.
The State of Palestine reaffirms that any justification for the aforementioned statement must align with the realities faced by the Palestinian people and their existential plight.
The State of Palestine is committed to undertaking all necessary diplomatic, legal, and political measures to safeguard the rights and welfare of the Palestinian people, in accordance with international law.
International law must be universally applicable, encompassing Palestine and the Palestinian people without exception.
