EgyptAir Flight Crash

EgyptAir flight MS804, leaving Charles de Gaulle Airport at 11.09 pm Paris time Wednesday, vanished from radar on its way from Paris to Cairo with 56 passengers and 10 crew on board, has disappeared .

Egyptians aviation officials said the plane ”crashed”.

It was last detected over the Mediterranean Sea. Search and rescue operations have been launched, and French prosecutors have opened an official investigation.

An Egyptian search plane has located two orange items believed to be from the flight, 230 miles southeast of Crete, within Egyptian airspace, according to Greek Authorities.

Egypt’s aviation minister has said the possibility that the crash was the result of a terror attack is more ”stronger” than the theory it was the result of a technical failure (or another Malaysian Airline issue).

It is not the first time an accident occurred with Egypt Air flights. On October 31, 1999, a Boeing 767 scheduled flying from Los Angeles International to Cairo, with a stop to New York City crashed into Atlantic Ocean about 60 miles south of Nantucket Island, killing all 213 passengers and 14 crew on board. The official ”probable cause” of the crash was deliberate action by the first officer (according to NTSB), while the Egyptian report suggested several control failure scenarios as possible cause (according to ECAA).

Metrojet Flight 9268 , an international chartered passengers flight, operated by Russian airline Kogalymavia (branded as Metrojet) disintegrated above the northern Sinai on October 31, 2015 at 6.13 local time, followingits departure from Sharm el-Sheikh International Airport, killing all 217 passengers and 7 crew members.

EgyptAir Other failures

This is not the first isolated incident of air crash of EgyptAir.

Other accidents occurred to Egyptian Airlines from the early 70’s are :

Flight 763 Cairo-Aden, March 19, 1972- 42 passengers were killed

Flight 741 Cairo – Nicosia , January 29, 1973. All 37 passengers were killed

Flight 864 Cairo- Bangkok, December 25, 1976. 52 passengers and 19 crew members lost their lives.

Conclusion

Up to now, even if a search of debris is underway, any confirmation that debris have been found off the coast of Crete has come from Egypt Air.
